THE LIMESTONE DALES OF YORKSHIRE

More than any other rock limestone imposes a special character on the scenery and nowhere in England is this more obvious than in the Craven District of The Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This scenery known as Karst Landscape is characterised by limestone pavements, scars, sinkholes, potholes and the great rows of scars which tower above the dales.
